The Bassoon rank is a reed rank with extremely long and thin resonators, somewhat similar to the bore of an actual bassoon. It has a somewhat muffled yet also somewhat nasal tone that sounds definitely woody.
Blockflöte, german for Recorder is a rather soft, harmonically poor rank usually found in high pitches such as 4' or 2'. It is often used as the top pitch of a Flute chorus.
